Ralf-Michael Schmitz

More than 23 years experience in the health care sector in different functions with increasing responsibility. 

The last 15 years he acted as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of both, privately and public owned hospitals. Most recently, he was successfully leading of a public hospital with 5 branches, 7000 employees, 90.000 inpatients and 500.000 outpatients per year and an annual turnover of 550 mEUR, for 11 years. As part of his widespread responsibility he was in charge of the modernization and re-construction of several new hospital buildings with a total investment of more than 1 billion Euro.

For 8 years, he was member of the Supervisory Board of a hospital in public-private-ownership.

Amongst others, he is engaged as Vice President of the Association of German Hospital Managers, Deputy Chairman of a local Chamber of Commerce Committee, Member of the regional Medical Chamber and Board Member of the regional German Hospital Federation.

Dr. Ralf-Michael Schmitz started his career as a business consultant in the health care sector and as the CEO of two consulting firms. As a consultant, he was specialized in questions of re-organization, process optimization, strategy development and implementation of risk- and quality management of hospitals. Assigned by the German Ministry of Health he was developing the new financing model for hospital reimburement. 

Since 2017 is founder and owner of „MINDS Management Institut Dr. Schmitz“.
